Trying Something New-ish

Remember just how indecisive I was back when it was time to get my bangs cut? Yeah, I think I’ve taken it to a whole new level; I’ve started wearing my bangs a different way just about everyday. Some days they’re straight down the front, some days pulled back, and, now, side swept. Yep, I’ve listened to all your beautiful advice and I think I’m in love with my current, short side bang look.

We’ll see just how long my love lasts, though, I’m still Miss Indecisive after all.

In other news, what I may have failed to mention when I first introduced you to Matt is that he lives over in the other Washington. So I’m eagerly counting down until his plane lands tomorrow afternoon and I get a big old hug.

What this also means, is that you can fully anticipate cute coupley pictures with Marci and David because we are having our first real double date! So be on the look out for way too much cuteness sprinkled with a heavy dash of ridiculousness because you know things are going to be epic when the four of us are all in one place…with cameras. Ohhhh heck yes!

Happy almost weekend guys! And let me know what you think about bangs!

The Statement Piece

As I’m writing this post I’m listening to Christmas music, taking a load off, and mentally refreshing myself because it’s that dreaded part of the quarter: finals week. I have a big scary paper due next week but we’ve been working on it for weeks so it should be a piece of cake. Tomorrow, however, I have a pretty scary final that covers an amazingly massive array of topics. So, tonight’s post is going to be short and to the point…kind of like my outfit (and legal writing!).

Photo on 12-5-12 at 9.19 PM #3As you learned a couple weeks ago, this scarf is c/o my boyfriend and sometimes it deserves to just stand alone and make a statement against a plain backdrop.

Photo on 12-5-12 at 9.21 PMToday was my first try at monochromatic black (aside from throwing on a LBD) and I think I’m finally embracing the whole head-to-toe black look in my everyday life. I felt pretty dang rad rocking this solid black get-up.

As an added bonus, this is what I looked like as I wrote this post (cause I know everyone is dying to see the “behind the scenes” and if not, well, haters be hatin’)…

My Bangin’ Decision

I hope you appreciate the terrible pun in my title…yeah. It’s late. These long days of studying on lunch breaks, sleeping only a handful of hours each night, and running like a crazy person (not kidding when I say crazy…I should have my own reality TV show because the amount of crazy things I say out loud is priceless) all over the place trying to make school and work jive cause me to make absolutely awful puns by mid to late week. But hey, it adds to my charm!

Annnnywaaaays, seeing as this post is not supposed to be about how tired I get by mid-week or how terrible my puns are, it’s time to reveal the verdict on the bangs decision from last week! Drumroll please! It’s full, straight bangs again!

While I was super excited about my decision while I was getting my hair cut, I think this may be the last style I go for with the straight bangs. I think I’m kinda ready for a change…of course I decided this two days after my haircut so it will be a while before you see any huge changes to my hair (because I know you were totally on the edge of your seat in anticipation and all). But, unless I somehow re-fall in love with straight bangs again-which very well might happen like it did this week (I blame Zooey Deschanel and how well she pulls off her bangs), I’m thinking the next haircut will probably go with team side bangs from my original bangs post last week.

Thank you so much for all your help deciding what I should do with me hair guys (even if I didn’t listen at all). It’s awesome getting outside input on these big, hairy situations…there I go again with the bad puns. And on that note, I think it’s time for me to peace out and attempt to hang on til Friday night. Happy almost weekend guys!

Stripes: The Big Time

Alrighty folks, I have a big announcement- this last week I landed my first big girl job. We’re talking a vacation day providing, health insurance giving, 9-5 big girl job. This is the start of a new era in Stripes-land and to commemorate the moment, here is a picture of what I wore while signing the new-hire paperwork.

Luckily, Sequins and I had a coffee date shortly after I signed the papers so we were able to catch my outfit (and have a total photoshoot reunion complete with the emailing of pictures…oh the things we took for granted in months past!). It was really fun catching up and pretending we still live in the same small town (despite the EPIC traffic I hit while making my way over to the Seattle coffeeshop where we were meeting). I miss Sequins a ton and I’m really excited for her to move down closer to me (albeit 45-70 mins away depending on traffic).

I’m also excited to transition into a new, professional wardrobe-lots of new clothing combos and a chance to really redefine my relationship with fashion. I’ve felt myself really evolve since moving away from my college town/bubble but that’s is really it’s own post…

What’s everyone else’s workplace essentials?! I’m sooo new to this business casual everyday stuff and I’d love to hear what you love!

Sequins 30 for 30: Bold Move

This entire outfit is a shout-out to fashion blogger Sammie Slash. Her and I had a whole exchange after I saw these amazing blue pants she wore about how much I love the shorts I have in the same color (I showed them off on this post, but let’s all just agree that it was a bad styling and move on with our lives, kay?), and how I wasn’t quite brave enough to wear them to work. She goaded, gently, and apparently it stuck more than I thought–because guess who wore her cobalt blue trouser shorts to work! Woot, this girl! The lesson to be learned here, people? Peer pressure works.

*Oh hey, also? There’s this thing? Yeah so I decided to kick off this separate, year-long project on my birthday, and you can see what I’m up to over here, at my (new) personal projects blog, Like A Small Fire. If that’s your kind of thing.
