Lace Isn’t A Pattern

That’s what I told myself when I bought this shirt for work. It’s really comfortable, has long sleeves and breathes really nicely because it’s lace. Also it’s not boring, which is hard for an article of clothing when it has to be a solid color.

Also my shoes are brown. Because there is not dress code for shoes and I’m a rebelrebel. Today we’re bouncing back and forth in errands to the Emissions Testing place and the DMV and then I work, so you get this super compact little post. Hope your Saturday is better than mine. Although since you don’t get to spend your day in the car making stupid French jokes with David, I have my doubts.

Oh These Dark Days

Man guys, let me tell ya, being a fashion blogger comes with it’s own set of woes. For reals. Like the fact that it now gets dark at 4 pm out here in the great NW. You want to know what’s really hard to do after its dark? Taking fashion blog pictures. So please, bare with me here with these cruddy pictures.

The single full body shot that wasn’t completely awful.

My sad attempt at showing you I was wearing brown boots with black pants. (A big first for matchy matchy Kels!)

My OMG is this really going to work? face.

What follows is a selection from my silly face pictures because I’m using a webcam album:

Yeah, maybe next Saturday I’ll remember to get dressed before it gets dark again…maybe.

Feeling Oh So British

Here’s something that’s probably not a shocker: I love Kate Middleton’s styling (not to mention envy her wardrobe and continue to drool over her collection of fascinators). So imagine how excited I’ve been with my recent exploration into the realm of business casual as I’ve finally been forced to tap into her pulled together look and explore what makes an outfit look professional not only in a work setting but also in my “real life” (aka all the rest of the time I’m not at work or hanging out at home in sweats). And, what’s been most thrilling, I think I’m finally getting the hang of this fun, classy look!

As I was getting dressed this morning, I channeled my favorite princess and decided I just needed to tuck in my shirt…I’ve never been a shirt tucker iner (with pants anyways) so I was admittedly weirded out that my instinct told me to do so but as I shoved my shirt into my pants (so eloquent, I know) I realized it not only worked, but I liked it. I’m pretty sure this is what growing up feels like…though is it really growing up if you’re still dressing like your favorite princess…or if you’re wearing a sweater you got at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter?

Oh yes folks, this is a legit, Scottish made, wool, Gryffindor sweater just like the cast of Harry Potter wore in the movies. I’ve been beyond excited to finally wear this gem so I could show you how I planned to incorporate my favorite souvenir of my summer travels into my wardrobe (guess that’s what happens when you buy the coolest wool sweater ever in July of the sunniest year you’ve ever lived through…seriously it’s usually rainy and gray by labor day out here can’t the weather just let a girl wear her nerdy sweater?!).  As I got dressed and was feeling ever so British tucking my shirt in and taking a few queues from Kate (cough cough matching belt and boots), I decided it was time to up the British (and nerd) factor and throw on the ultimate British sweater. A gosh did it feel good…and warm…they’re not kidding around about how warm these wool sweaters are!

I’m really excited for my upcoming posts because it’s been really fun to stretch my fashion limits, try new things, and let my style evolve alongside the other changes I’ve been experiencing. With that, does anyone else feel especially British lately or love Duchess Kate’s style as much as I do? If so I’d love to hear about which styles you’ve been digging because I wanna drool over them right along side you!

Sequins: Casual Milkshakes

Milkshakes are very high up on the List of Foods My Stomach Doesn’t Like. However, milkshakes are even higher up on the List of Foods Capable of Fixing Grumpy Moods, so I’ll make an exception every other week or so (I know, I know, it’s a problem). Monday wasn’t a particularly bad day, if you don’t count the atrocious doctor visit (which I don’t count, since I’d like to just pretend it didn’t happen. Be grateful, because if I wasn’tpretending, this post would be full of stories about how incredibly unprofessional and inappropriate he was. But I’m pretending), but the second I swallowed the last bite of the stir fry Monsieur cooked for dinner, I knew.

“Babe, I’m going to need a milkshake tonight”

And thus, the story of how Monsieur and I ended up putting clothes back on after settling in for a Monday (opposed to the pajamas we had been wearing. Jeez, guys) to venture out for milkshakes.

There are several places around town for milkshakes, and one happens to be in walking distance. It isn’t our favorite, but it is in…walking distance. So that place usually wins out.

It’s mocha salted caramel flavored. Pretty fantastic, I’d say. Not as chocolatey as I usually prefer, but very sweet. I alternated drinking it with sipping on Monsieur’s, which was a classic chocolate.

And all was fixed.

Also, for all the doubters out there about my ability to throw on jeans and a sweatshirt, I give you proof:

Sweatshirt: Fred Meyer, Jeans: Gift, Shoes: Toms, Scarf: Vintage

I’m so hipster even my shirt has glasses. True story, Stripes asked if I added them on. I didn’t. I’m actually constantly debating taking them off him. I’m pretty sure Fredrickstein has perfect vision.

Stripes: It’s Day 30! Thank God

It’s finally here!!! DAY 30! Wooooo! I am beyond excited to get back into the rest of my clothes and get back on a 3 a week posting schedule. II thought it would be really fun to do a retrospective look at all my outfits for the last 30 days to celebrate the end of this project.

And now you have my last outfit of the challenge:

Sweater: H&M

Dress: A&E

Leggings: Loft Outlet

Boots: Rocket Dog

Can i just say that I am glad to put this challenge behind me and wear some new clothes?!

Sequins & Stripes: A Sunday Adventure Day 29

Early* this morning Sequins, Stripes and our good friend Plaid all piled into the car and headed over to the Skagit Valley Yearly Tulip Festival to look at some flowers, have some lady bonding time, and take a bajillion pictures. Also, side note, Sequins definitely drove us home. Because she’s awesome like that. Check out some of our pictures! The titles, if you hover over them, will tell you which one of us took it. Enjoy!

This is what happens when I don't remember I zoomed my camera in to take the previous shot!

Sequins Outfit:

Shirt: Sojourner/ Vest Scarf & Shoes: Thrifted/ Shoes: H&M/ TIghts: Gift

Stripes’ Outfit:

Shirt: Target/ Jeans: Gap/ Shoes: Toms/ Sweatshirt: Aerie/ Coat: The North Face (seriously awesome raincoat….if you’re in the market for one, this one is great!)

 &

*So only two of us (*cough cough* Stripes and Plaid) thought 8 am was early…Our lovely Sequins is much more adjusted to such grown up hours and was bright eyed and fully awake by that point in the morning. The other two of us needed some more wake up time and coffee.

Stripes: A Coldplay Update Day 26

Ok, so I was totally planning to do a post about driving from school to Seattle (a drive I have done at least 100 times in the last 5 years) and I had planned it out on the drive BUT last night’s concert was soooooo amazing I’ve decided to through a post about it in here and save the driving post for tomorrow. So here are my concert highlights:

-When everyone first got to the arena, they were given a super dorky bracelet. About 10 minutes for the show started while they were setting up the final instruments and stuff a sign came on telling us to put the bracelets on. And then, when the lights went off, all the bracelets turned on an glowed!! It was like being apart of a giant Christmas tree. They had some sort of computer program that let the bracelets light up on beat and everything. SO COOL.

-Chris Martin smashed a guitar! I’ve never seen anyone do that before so that was pretty awesome.

-SO MUCH CONFETTI. SO MUCH.

-And this was the best part. For the encore, the band surprised us by coming into the stand IN MY AISLE! I was 10 feet away from all of Coldplay!!!! I don’t think I’ve ever screamed quite like I did when I realized what was happening, cause they’re only my favorite band, you know, no big deal. And, can I just say, Chris Martin’s arms are uh-mazing?! I actually had noticed them on a close up on one of the screens while playing piano…boy is built! But this was undoubtedly the coolest part of the show! The tech crew even brought up a piano and everything. I still cannot believe that happened and I’m pretty sure I’m still feeling the residual adrenaline.

This is the picture I took of Chris Martin (and his sexy arms) when we was right next to us! He's in the pink!

All in all it was an awesome show! I had a ton of fun and the band did a really good job mixing old stuff and new stuff…they did songs from every album they’ve produced, which I really liked. Now, I just want a private show where they play my perfect set list so they will do all the awesome songs they skipped 😛 A girl can dream!

Also, I realize this shirt breaks the rules, but how do you go to your favorite band’s concert and not get a shirt?!

Anyone else ever seen Coldplay live? What kinds of effects did they do in past shows? I’m dying to know because they seem like they really pull all the stops!
