Trying Something New-ish

Remember just how indecisive I was back when it was time to get my bangs cut? Yeah, I think I’ve taken it to a whole new level; I’ve started wearing my bangs a different way just about everyday. Some days they’re straight down the front, some days pulled back, and, now, side swept. Yep, I’ve listened to all your beautiful advice and I think I’m in love with my current, short side bang look.

We’ll see just how long my love lasts, though, I’m still Miss Indecisive after all.

In other news, what I may have failed to mention when I first introduced you to Matt is that he lives over in the other Washington. So I’m eagerly counting down until his plane lands tomorrow afternoon and I get a big old hug.

What this also means, is that you can fully anticipate cute coupley pictures with Marci and David because we are having our first real double date! So be on the look out for way too much cuteness sprinkled with a heavy dash of ridiculousness because you know things are going to be epic when the four of us are all in one place…with cameras. Ohhhh heck yes!

Happy almost weekend guys! And let me know what you think about bangs!

Kels is Traveling Back in Time, Too! (Also Known as: What Happens When Marce and Kels Get Together)

Oh yes I am because I just so happened to be Marci’s date to this event. And if there’s one thing we’ve learned in the last year, it’s that when the two of us are together epic amounts of pictures are taken. Some very silly pictures are taken.

Some unintentionally serious ones are taken.

Dress:Gap (thrifted)//Sweater:Romy//Shoes:Lucky Brand//Clutch:Old Navy

And some blogingly perfect ones are taken.

Yes, when we get together we take lots of pictures. And this is why I miss us getting together as much as we used to be able to but it’s always nice to take a little time travel trip down memory lane and look at all the good times we’ve had. It’s also nice to know we’ll meet up again, take even more ridiculous  slightly vain pictures of ourselves, catch up like we’ve been apart for two days not two weeks, and enjoy some good coffee (spoiler alert, there may be a post just about this in the works). That’s the beauty of good friends, everything can change but when you’re reunited it’s all the same again.

Sequins: Travelwear

You’re reading this on the last day before Monsieur & I fly out to Hawaii for our vacation, so I’m just a touch busy. Although, if you couldn’t get enough of Stripes’ vacation posts, then don’t fret–I’ll be adding my own to the mix soon enough. Don’t you fret. For now, though, you can feast your eyes of my last travel outfit! This was for a train trip, so less intense than my current trip, but still.

Gray tights and denim shorts was the very first styling that led me to my tights-with-shorts obsession. You guys don’t see it too much on the blog what with me recording almost entirely my work outfits, but trust me–it exists. Also, I know at least one person seeing this post is squealing with an “ohemgee she got it!”, so yeah, Stripes, I totally found one!

Backstory–Stripes sent me a text a long time ago letting me know there was a a super cute seafoam green jacket at the place she found her hot pink blazer. I went to scope it out and they were already out of stock. I went back recently, though, when my sister dragged me to the mall and couldn’t resist. It’s mine now!

Blazer: Charlotte Russe, Shirt: H&M, Tights: very old, Sandals: Saltwaters, Shorts: Target, Flower: downtown boutique

Do you guys have any fashion trends that you stick to like comfort blankets? Because that’s what tights and shorts are for me. This happy trend has been going strong for four years in my life, and I don’t see it letting up anytime soon!

Sequins: Two Realy Awesome People

Two really awesome people are getting married today. It’s exciting, and it’s also the first wedding of the season (that I get to attend). I’m really happy for them, and while I could turn this post into a platform for my beliefs on equality and what I think is right, I think I’ll just settle with a heartfelt congratulations. This couple is adorable, and I’ve known one of them ever since I started college. I wish them the best of luck and hope all the happiness for them.

For those curious, Monsieur and I went as a Katamari Ball and the Prince, while the other couple went as Miss Piggy and Miss Piggy’s Doting Boyfriend. And let me tell you, of all the men (and women) I know, none pull off a Miss Piggy as well as that guy. Oh and also, Monsieur is notorious for always making the wrong face at a camera. In case you were wondering.

Sequins: It Occurs To Me

I’ve never given you guys a good side shot of what my hair looks like. It’s a little radical, especially considering I’m in two weddings this summer, but the brides are being relaxed(ish) about it. I’m growing the top out to the point of being capable of curling it, which will look cute for wedding photos. I might even perm the top. The sides, however, which is what you miss most days, are shorn. Entirely. I had Monsieur help me with his beard trimmer (on the 4 setting) to shear me like a little lamb in springtime.

The top is totally long enough to french braid, albeit poorly. This makes me happier than I can even comprehend. I’m too self conscious to give you guys more than like one or two side profile shots, but I’ll try to fix that. Mostly because my hair is way cooler than any amount of self awareness should damper.

Sequins: Seeing Red

Mostly because I know the future of the blog, and I’m definitely wearing red dresses two days in a row. I might pull out my red stripey dress and make it three days, if I’m feeling radical. Or, rather, if I’m feeling red. Which I might be–it’s anyone’s guess as to what I’ll be in the mood to throw on tomorrow. Why do I feel like cackling an evil laugh right now?

Without further ado, I bring you…. outfit photos.

Jacket Shoes & Dress: Thrifted/Vintage
Belt: H&M
Sweater: Target
Tights: Bella

This felt like such an easy outfit to put together, and I realized it’s all different pieces from my 30 for 30 (for the most part). I feel like enough time has passed (a month) and it finally feels safe to wear these pieces again. I didn’t realize I was avoiding them until I put a bunch of them together. Also, this is a bikeable outfit for me. Also also, there’s mud on my pretty shoes from biking. Also also also, every time I had to add another article of clothing to my thrifted outfit line, I felt more like a hipster. Just wait until next week. I’m really excited for something, and that something is definitely going to level me up to the next level of hipster. Because, you know, it’s my dream in life to level up in hipster-dom.

Sequins: I’m Still Grateful

I think those days where you’re feeling anything but grateful are the best days to work on active gratitude. This has been a doozy of a week, let me tell you. In addition to the things I was (vague and)unexcited about, I ended up taking a tumble on my steps. Remember this mug? It took the tumble with me, and now I have eleven stitches in my arm. Ouch.

So on to gratitude! I’m grateful for…

…Health insurance. I’m lucky enough that my work is able to over me some pretty awesome coverage, and I definitely get that not everyone has that. Although it shouldn’t be a privilege, health coverage should be a right. Ahem.

…My partner in crime. He’s been amazingly patient with me and the situations we’ve been in this week. He’s one of the few people I’d ever want to be stuck with for four hours in an ER.

…My mom, who will always let me whine about how clumsy I am, and send me off with a reminder to just be really nice to myself. She grants permission to eat cookies pretty much whenever the permission is needed (like now)

…Cookies. Or, more specifically, chocolate cake. I definitely picked up a couple slices for Monsieur and I from my favorite little local bakery.

…Twin Peaks (and, more broadly, Netflix). I didn’t realize how much Monsieur would like the show, so I had been watching it by myself. He watched a couple episodes with me and now he’s hooked! He’s actually just waiting impatiently for me to finish this post so we can get back to watching it! The owls are not what they seem…

…I know it’s like I’m sneaking the same answer in twice, but I’m going to include Monsieur’s willingness to do photos with me. It’s fun, it’s silly, and he’s never made me feel embarrassed at all about asking him to take photos of my outfits. He’s even getting to the point where it’s fun for him, I think, and he likes helping me pick out outfits!

The top you’re about to see, by the way, is obscenely comfortable and soft. This outfit proof that I do occasionally have lazy, dressed-down days. I slept in this shirt Friday night, and I only threw on the headband and earrings five seconds before walking downstairs for photos. That doesn’t happen too often, but today it does.

Shirt: Covet/ Jeans: Thrifted/ Shoes: Payless Shoes Earrings: MiShoes/ Headband: F21?

I hope everyone else out there is having a relaxing and safe weekend with beautiful weather! I’m going to go work on a sewing project for a friend while watching Twin Peaks. Only a few more episodes left! No one spoil it for me! 😉
