As I’m writing this post I’m listening to Christmas music, taking a load off, and mentally refreshing myself because it’s that dreaded part of the quarter: finals week. I have a big scary paper due next week but we’ve been working on it for weeks so it should be a piece of cake. Tomorrow, however, I have a pretty scary final that covers an amazingly massive array of topics. So, tonight’s post is going to be short and to the point…kind of like my outfit (and legal writing!).
As you learned a couple weeks ago, this scarf is c/o my boyfriend and sometimes it deserves to just stand alone and make a statement against a plain backdrop.
Today was my first try at monochromatic black (aside from throwing on a LBD) and I think I’m finally embracing the whole head-to-toe black look in my everyday life. I felt pretty dang rad rocking this solid black get-up.
As an added bonus, this is what I looked like as I wrote this post (cause I know everyone is dying to see the “behind the scenes” and if not, well, haters be hatin’)…
Happy Thursday and wish me luck on this final…it’s going to be a doozy of a test.
Alright guys, today you’re getting a little insight into my mid-week, crazy, sleep-deprived brain. I’ve come to realize something very big-it’s amazingly difficult to take pictures of yourself at the end of a long day. Maybe I’m just lacking in mad skillz, but this is what I’ve got for you:I really love this outfit, though, which made this evening’s photoshoot all the more bittersweet. I am in love with this purple scarf, I adore these work pants, and sweaters are probably the best thing ever. But, unfortunately, these pictures do not do them (nor my hair) much justice. Which is why sometimes you just have to roll with the punches, rock your new favorite scarf, and take some ridiculous pictures… like this last one…
…which completely sums up how I feel roughly 14% of the time. Happy Thursday everyone (it’s almost Friday!!!)!
Man guys, let me tell ya, being a fashion blogger comes with it’s own set of woes. For reals. Like the fact that it now gets dark at 4 pm out here in the great NW. You want to know what’s really hard to do after its dark? Taking fashion blog pictures. So please, bare with me here with these cruddy pictures.
The single full body shot that wasn’t completely awful.
My sad attempt at showing you I was wearing brown boots with black pants. (A big first for matchy matchy Kels!)
My OMG is this really going to work? face.
What follows is a selection from my silly face pictures because I’m using a webcam album:

Yeah, maybe next Saturday I’ll remember to get dressed before it gets dark again…maybe.
Last night was the night, folks, I finally got to cut into my pumpkin and give him the face he’s always wanted! Ok…I doubt any pumpkin would go for a slightly sad, Edward Cullen-esque basic vampire face, but it’s what my pumpkin got. And, to think, people wonder why I never pursued a career in plastic surgery.
Since this was the third anual pumpkin party Kim and I threw, here’s a little retrospective of the pumpkin-awesomeness we’ve created over the years!
Year one…we forgot to take pictures together with our pumpkins sooo here’s what we pulled together for that year.
Side note, I voluneteered to be the sober on this year, I have no idea why I couldn’t keep my eyes open even if my life depended on it…
We realized our mistake from the year before and took a million pictures together-this was my favorite!
Annnnd year three!
Why yes, if you had guessed that these were our pumpkin faces you would be 100% correct about how we managed to pull off such an awesome picture. Also, I’m pretty dang sure that holding an lit pumpkin was one of the ballsiest things I’ve done in a while…so much flamage…right there…next to my torso…FIRE!
I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween & a happy Sunday!
One of the absolute coolest, most awesome parts of being apart of this “grown up world” is the ability to go where I want, when I want because I can use my money exactly how I want (except for that whole bit about the bills and life obligations…but we’ll worry about that on another day). While reveling in this new found freedom, I was able to take a weekend away to Hood River, Oregon to poke around and refresh a little….which I accomplished by literally stopping to smell the roses. Living out the cliches one cheesy picture at a time!
Aside from stumbling upon a great bluegrass show and having a spectacular tasting at the Naked Winery (I would so totally recommend the Cougar wine-so yummy!) we spotted the Multnomah Falls on the drive in.
Time for a little background: as a kid my very first classroom ever had a poster of these falls on the wall and I spent hours staring at it, mesmerized. I pretty much burned the image into my brain so imagine my surprise as we were driving down the highway, I looked to my right and like a mirage in the dessert it appears amongst the trees. I didn’t even know the falls were in Oregon much less that I would see them on my little getaway. It was quite the pleasant surprise!

Granted, I’m real reason smiling this big here because a ridiculously cute doggie was running around and headed straight toward my lovely photographer.
All in all, I had a great weekend taking some time to slow down and explore what life really is to me right now. I’m so glad I was able to take some time to get away and I’m even more excited for what the next few months hold because, let me tell ya, after this little getaway, I am all the more pumped for what the next year has to offer!
