I got a call from my mom on Tuesday asking if I wanted to have lunch with her before work. Well, duh. I was running out of outfit posts, mom. I kid, I kid. I mean, I still have one more stockpiled. I decided to break the rules of work and wear a patterned skirt. And by decided, I mean I’m out of clothes and need to do laundry pretty badly.

My manager didn’t bat an eye at my skirt, so I think it gets to be on the sometimes rotation. Yay for small victories in rule breaking! Also, take a good look at that photo–it was taken by mom, who’s getting to be a total champ. I want to give her a nice big shout out for doing a bunch of my outfit photos lately. She used to be pretty timid about it, but this time she just snapped a few shots and handed my camera back to me like a boss. It’s a fun process to watch.
I know I’ve talked about this cape before, but hot damn I love it so. It was inspired by David’s mom, who has a much nicer and higher quality cape. I remember the first time I saw it on her and immediately thought omgwantcape. I went back to Bellingham shortly after and almost immediately thrifted this beauty. It’s a little tight around the bust on me, but I don’t care. It satisfied that itch pretty effectively!
PS–Hooray for celebrating the end of the world, guys! Unless it’s supposed to end at the end of today instead of the beginning. In which case, this might be the last blog post ever from us. Stay tuned.
So I’m practicing with the whole taking-my-own-photos thing, since my main photographers are pretty occupied during the day. David is always willing at the end of the day, yes, but he’s tired so I don’t want to push my luck. Also, the sunlight at 6:30 is becoming a pretty rare commodity.

The thing is, apparently, I’m a total camera whore when no one is around. Also, this is a fun outfit. I keep waffling on top of the fence when it comes around to taking off the glasses from my deer friend. But who knows–maybe it’s just the peak of fashion to have a four-eyed deer companion hanging out on your top.
I’m getting so good at layering dresses with things, guys, it’s not even funny. I mean check out that skirt–better believe it’s a dress. Also, wearing that skirt made me ache with longing for my black mini skirt with the white birds. I’ve only worn it on the blog once, since it’s pretty new. But this whole jaunt into limited-closet-hood has given me some good ideas on how to wear that skirt.
Oh, also, if you’re curious, my personal blog is up and running over at Like A Small Fire (it’s a quote from a poem). Check it out if you want to read my long tangent-y rants on stuff that isn’t fashion. There’s some art and photography, too.
Oh, also also, if you’re curious, I’ve been using crutches this whole weekend but inconsistently. My knee is feeling a bit better, but constantly like a pencil is wedged under the kneecap. I can walk for a bit (or stand, or pose for a camera) but if we’re talking a grocery store trip then the crutches are tagging along.

What’s the best thing to do after you’ve been traveling a ton? Travel more, duh! I’m hanging out with Stripes at her hometown. We’re doing bottles of wine, nail polish, crafting, and epic amounts of discussions regarding guys. We’re preparing for tomorrow, which is my next in line bride’s shower. So, wish me luck with fun crafting! I’ll show you the fun stuff I made for the shower soon, as well as what I did for my sister’s shower. Promise!
Like my mini skirt? It was a little out of my comfort zone, but I’m glad I got it–it’s super fun, and I’m excited to match it. Guys, I haven’t talked about this much, but I’m super excited to figure out how to make my wardrobe work for not-work and not-not-work. I realized that I had been subconsciously pressuring myself to wear shorts since they’re not work-appropriate, and I don’t have to wear work-appropriate things. But that doesn’t mean I’m not allowed to wear my work clothes…. It took longer than I’d like to admit for that last bit to sink in.
This is Maggie–look familiar? She’s pretty into her ball, and it being thrown, and since I’m pretty into dogs, and obeying their every whim, we became pretty close friends. Which is why she ended up in 90% of my outfit shots. It’s cool, I’m not a diva. I know how to share. What I don’t know, however, is which side of my shirt is the front. If it looks vaguely familiar, that’s because I wear it all the time–except the other way. I was putting it on this morning and realized it doesn’t have a tag. So suddenly my brain asked “Have you been putting this shirt on backwards the whole time you’ve owned it?”
Maybe, brain. Maybe. Or maybe just for today.
