This year will forever be remembered as the years Harry Potter took over my wardrobe. After my jaunt in Wizarding World, I’ve been rocking the crap out of my Gryffindor House sweater- I wear it to work, I wear it while shopping, and yesterday, I even wore it to the spa (it was cold out…so cold we even had our first snow! How wintertime in Hogsmead of us!). I’m kind of addicted to this sweater.
Yesterday, I met up with a friend for lunch (it’s amazing how much time I have for friends when I’m not doing both school and work! I’ve seen more friends in the last week than I had in the last three months) and we exchanged some pretty epic gifts. Imagine how thrilled I was when I opened this little gem?!
Yeah, I was beyond excited to be holding my very own golden snitch necklace! (Shout out to my friend Ashley who handcrafted him for me!) You bet you’re going to see him pop up on the blog from time to time. I can’t wait to figure out how I can make him be a work appropriate accessory. She also got me the fanciest snuggie out there…check the poms on this guy!
Impromptu photoshoot while blogging! Yay! Spontaneity!

Yay! Goofy Face Picture!!!
And so it has begun. Pretty soon you’ll be seeing me rock a robe and tie like it’s no big deal, I’ll be working my time-turner like it’s my third year at Hogwarts, and I’ll have a magic bag where I keep all my possessions stashed away…or maybe not. Guess you’ll just have to keep an eye on the blog to see just how far bad my Harry addiction gets. But be sure of one thing, I’ll be wearing my snuggie as the coolest blanket cape ever for the next six months straight.
Happy Sunday folks!

Well, at least for my dress. I put together a cute little holiday outfit that I’ve been fantasizing about. I think it’s super cute for the holidays, and each piece would be great to remix into my own wardrobe for lots of further use!
1 I can’t think of anything better to wear than a chartreuse dress like Frozen Margaritas Dress | Modcloth
2 It took all my self control not to buy this sweater, which is on sale right now! Sequin Front Caridan | The Limited
3 I’m pretty sure I’ve had dreams about the Opaque Fairisle Tights | ASOS
4 I love these shoes and they’re the perfect touch Børn ‘Verna’ Flat | Nordstroms
5 A cute flower for my hair, such as this Magnolia Flower Clip | Enchantedly Yous, Etsy

I couldn’t decide which top to wear while David and I were running errands. He knew I wanted to sneak in an outfit photo so he told me to bring both.
We’ll do photos for both outfits, babe.
I knew there was a reason I love that man. Besides the fact that he pretty much rocks me socks off on a daily basis. Anyway.
Shirt: F21 | Dress: Thrifted | TIghts: Target | Shoes: Fred Meyer
The plaid top ended up winning for the day, but only because it was more comfortable and my errands consisted largely of sitting in waiting rooms. Comfort was key. Also, this is exactly what I wore–that is, no coat. I should probably cut that out. It’s getting cold out.
Sweater: Kohls | Dress: Thrifted | Tights: Target | Shoes: Fred Meyer
This felt too formal, but I still loved it. I think it’s a super cute holiday outfit and it’ll definitely make another appearance, once the timing is right. Oh and lastly–so don’t care that I’m like ten million months behind on this tred. The blue & red look so smashing together I could just melt. Melt.
I’m working on my final memo for the quarter. And when I say memo, I mean 8 pages of exceedingly precise and concise text that in regular writing is roughly 10 pages (how do I know? Because my memo is currently sitting pretty at 10 pages…so much editing to do!) Needless to say, I’ve been a little distracted and slightly crazy (before proof reading this sentence read as: “Needless to day, I’ve been a little distraction” yeah…lots of distraction going on over here). So. Today, I’m bringing you some things that have been getting me through my crazies.
Things I want when I’m all graduated from this program and can actually afford awesome stuff:
And, of course, Jenna Marbles!

Outfit Pics to come this weekend…post-memo-pacalyse. Woo! Something for us all to look forward to! Have a good end to the week guys, God knows I can’t wait for Friday at 4 pm when I officially start my first true weekend off from life in months!
I got a call from my mom on Tuesday asking if I wanted to have lunch with her before work. Well, duh. I was running out of outfit posts, mom. I kid, I kid. I mean, I still have one more stockpiled. I decided to break the rules of work and wear a patterned skirt. And by decided, I mean I’m out of clothes and need to do laundry pretty badly.
Cape: Thrifted | Skirt & Top: H&M | Leggings: Gift | Shoes: Clarks | Bag: Melie Bianco
My manager didn’t bat an eye at my skirt, so I think it gets to be on the sometimes rotation. Yay for small victories in rule breaking! Also, take a good look at that photo–it was taken by mom, who’s getting to be a total champ. I want to give her a nice big shout out for doing a bunch of my outfit photos lately. She used to be pretty timid about it, but this time she just snapped a few shots and handed my camera back to me like a boss. It’s a fun process to watch.
I know I’ve talked about this cape before, but hot damn I love it so. It was inspired by David’s mom, who has a much nicer and higher quality cape. I remember the first time I saw it on her and immediately thought omgwantcape. I went back to Bellingham shortly after and almost immediately thrifted this beauty. It’s a little tight around the bust on me, but I don’t care. It satisfied that itch pretty effectively!
PS–Hooray for celebrating the end of the world, guys! Unless it’s supposed to end at the end of today instead of the beginning. In which case, this might be the last blog post ever from us. Stay tuned.
Happy Tuesday, everyone! I’m excited to share another guest post from the lovely Alicia. Remember, you can read her blog over at Break Out of the Bell Jar! Thanks for the post, Alicia, and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did!
This outfit is more or less what I wore to the interview for this job. Just replace the tights with nude pantyhose and the boots with modest nude-colored Kate Middleton-esque heels. I adore this dress. I ran into a teacher after school had ended while wearing this little number and he told me I looked “too professional and pretty” to work at my law firm. He was only kidding around. He’s a prosecutor and we’re a criminal defense firm. He and my bosses get along fabulously and he was by FAR my favorite teacher. His sense of humor is dry, a little morbid, and sarcastic. Just like me!
Dress: Fred Meyer | Tights: Calvin Klein | Jacket: American Rag, both from Macy’s | Boots: Overstock.com
That was supposed to be my “angry fake model” expression. It looks more like I wasn’t ready for the picture, but I still like the photo.
Now, these boots. I made an extra effort to get these boots into the picture. Not really my favorite. When I purchased them online, I thought they’d be sturdier and more attractive. But they make great winter boots anyway. My favorite part about them is that when I walk, they make a soft padding sound instead of a click-clack. I love the click-clack too, but sometimes a girl wants to be stealthy!
As for this last photo. Well, I wanted to do a pose I hadn’t done before. Ever. But the point of the outfit is that it’s relatively warm in the winter. The tights are a little thin, but they protect against the wind. The jacket is also a little light, but helps seal in some heat. The dress is very, very thick and warm. Overall, the outfit is a little too black-and-grey for my taste. I feel comfortable and pretty in it, anyway. And I think it had the desired professional-looking effect I was looking for the first time I wore it. After all, I landed the job!
Brace yourself, because it’s about to happen. The first thing I though when I looked at these photos, and likely similar to what you’ll think, is Why on earth am I wearing shorts in early December?
Truth is, guys, I’m one of the reluctant leg shavers. Especially during the winter months. It feels pointless and petty and such a nuisance, so I skip weeks when it’s cold out. I finally caved and shaved my legs the night before this outfit, and so when I woke up I was super exciting to show them off. I knew I’d be spending the whole day inside with friends while we decorated, so I threw on a pair of shorts and David looked at me like I had grown an extra pair of legs.
A little impractical? I asked
Just a little, babe, he replied
I added tights and somehow it felt like a good idea. When Kels and I made a quick run to the store for more ornament hangers, though, and snuck in outfit photos I started to reconsider my decision but it was too late. I was committed and for the record, this outfit is super comfortable.
Sweater: Thrifted H&M | Shirt: H&M | Shorts: Target | Headband: Gift | Shoes: Thrifted
So tell me, am I crazy for wanting to wear shorts in December? Wait… maybe don’t answer that. What’s the craziest, out-of-place thing you’ve worn? Was it worth it?
