That’s what I told myself when I bought this shirt for work. It’s really comfortable, has long sleeves and breathes really nicely because it’s lace. Also it’s not boring, which is hard for an article of clothing when it has to be a solid color.

Also my shoes are brown. Because there is not dress code for shoes and I’m a rebelrebel. Today we’re bouncing back and forth in errands to the Emissions Testing place and the DMV and then I work, so you get this super compact little post. Hope your Saturday is better than mine. Although since you don’t get to spend your day in the car making stupid French jokes with David, I have my doubts.
Guys, here’s the thing. I’m so bored with my work wardrobe. So bored.
This was my attempt at indoor lighting. My mom donated a Sun Light to the Keep Marci From Going Insane project and it’s great on those gray days that plague this area of the country. Also, it’s really good for natural lit photos. Except I’m still working on that effort. I’ll figure something out.
Also, this is a corner of my art studio. I’m still not done decorating things, but I’ll probably get a tour ready for it when the time is right. It’s kind of exciting having a second bedroom that I can do what I want with. We have a spare bed in there as well, which means we let friends crash when they come over. It’s exciting.

And for those curious, the really awesome rug under my feet is actually a King+ size bedspread I found at Goodwill for like $5. It’s amazingly perfect, although sometimes I stare at it and am in awe at the size of the bed it must have covered. It’s enormous. Definitely a bed for epic orgies.
My mom and I agreed that getting Arctic Frosts from Dairy Queen was going to be essential to our well-being during our errands run on Friday. She’s never insisted on her own before and usually we share mine, but this time was different. This time she had a craving.

Pretty much five seconds after we had them in hand, she realized (with my prompting, that she actually wanted a slurpee from 7-11. I don’t know about you guys, but those slurpees are like my favorite comfort treat ever. It’s like candy flavored ice foam. Ridiculousness.
Since this was a day off, I opted for lots of color. So much blue color I even matched my drink, because that’s how dedicated I am. Also, please note the hair. I think this is my first good hair day on the blog in weeks. These shots don’t quite show it off, but it’s getting spiky in the back.

I’m still obsessed with the black skinny jeans, and you probably shouldn’t expect that to change any time soon.

I spent Sunday shopping around with me sister a bit. She had a list of new things she wanted to look for, and since she missed out on my epic shopping trip with my mom a few days back it only made sense. I had to keep an eye out for new tops that would match my skinny jeans, because what do you know but nothing in my closet matches them. Or so it would seem.
Carol was a really good sport about the photos and doing nice framing for them. She even captured the true essence of what it must be like to have me ask you for outfit photos. I’m bossy. Pictured above was my request for a horizontal photo.
This is me attempting to explain the zoom built in the lens, so save her the time of physically walking up and down. I was being nice, promise.
This is when she started to get little sassy. Give ’em an inch, they take a mile. In all seriousness, though, she’s a good sport. And I had way more fun than I expected from a shopping trip to the mall during a holiday weekend. Sisters–I highly recommend them.
My mom asked if I wanted to tag along to a quilt show she was volunteering at with her guild, and I said sure why not. It was a ton of fun and filled with very sweet women. I also had some time to carve away and get some writing done, although never as much as I want. Figuring out what to wear to a quilt show was probably more thought out and fun than it should have been, but I had just gone shopping and wanted to incorporate new things. And if you don’t understand the sentiment behind that last sentence, I don’t think we can be friends. Sorry.
The exciting new article I added to my wardrobe was a pair of black skinny jeans. It’s almost embarrassing how long I’ve been jonesing for a pair, but I wanted to exercise self control. I wanted to hold back a little bit. That lasted a couple of months, and then I decided the best way to celebrate the news that I had a new job was buying a pair of pants to wear to said job. So that happened.

I figured dressing for a day around incredibly creative quilters meant I should throw on some handmade stuff. The pin I made a while back, and the shirt I thrifted–although it’s very clear from the construction that it was handmade. The sweater, jeans and shoes are new. And PS feel free to notice that those shoes are wedges, and that I spent the whole day parading around and letting the world think I’m a whopping two inches taller than I actually am. 5’5″ impersonating, here I come!
Okay so as you’re reading this, just know that I’m probably at my first day of work. Unless you’re like me, and you let the posts in your google reader stack up until you’re hopelessly behind and finding out what people did two months ago. In which case, welcome to 2013! Let’s hope the world didn’t end after all, eh? Made it past December 21st, did we? Woot!

Small take on the whole coffee spoon imagery, but that’s my life lately. A lot of coffe dates. Breakfast dates. Lunch dates. I’m really not complaining–it’s great to develop friendships with all these people I’ve been hanging out with, extending our relationships beyond what they originally started as–coworker, mother, acquaintance. This particular spot was with my mom. We had a fun day planned full of crafts and shopping and errands, so we started off at our favorite breakfast joint.
The day didn’t go exactly as planned, but it was still nice to hang out with my mom. Also, it’s kind of funny but I’ve gotten into a weird niche with my outfits around her. The last four outfit photos she’s taken, I’ve worn two different dresses. Weird. This is the dress I was talking about last week, though. She found it when we were at Goodwill a while ago, and I just love it. It fits so nicely and so comfortably!
