The Power of Unicorns

I don’t take Facebook seriously, and on my personal page my about me goes like this-

If you’re bright pink and covered in glitter, there is a 98.45% chance that I’ll love you forever. The odds increase if you are also a unicorn.

It’s been a bit for a while now, but I have to say it’s true. If you’re a unicorn, there is a high probability that I will love you. So when David checked the mail and found this package waiting for me from the weekend, he won massive points.

It’s kind of hard to tell, I know but it’s a unicorn necklace he found online. That guy spoils me and I like it. Also, I didn’t realize this until after we did the photos, but it was super windy and I have a unicorn horn in every photo. I must be channeling their power!

Sweater & Shirt: H&M | Necklace: Gift | Shorts Tights & Shoes: Target

I have to say I’m really in love with this shirt from H&M (sale section, $5, yes please) but what really sealed the deal was how it perfectly frames the unicorn in the shirt pattern. I mean, it just doesn’t get much better than that!

Transitioning

I think the only thing I dislike about season changes is losing certain key pieces of clothes to the storage bins, resigned to waiting for another year. I’ve never been someone who holds closely to the rules of different  seasonal wardrobes, but some things just don’t fit year round. For a little bit there, I thought one of my new favorite dresses would be in that same boat.

Uh hells to the no, though. I’m still figuring out how to wear the zebras in the winter, but for now I’m happy with the color palette as a good fall look. These tights are the best–they’re the perfect texture and thickness. The only downside is I can not for the life of me wear them unless there are similarly colored leaves on the ground. They are way too autumn.

The earrings were a gift from David and I love them. They’re so pretty and perfect for everyday wear with just a touch of something extra. I’m not the kind of person that really ever wears earrings, but these are some of my favorites. And sorry in advance, but I have no idea where he found them.

Also, just in case I haven’t already gone into excessive detail about this scarf, I love this scarf. I went to Paris after I graduated high school and found this scarf there. It’s beginning to fray and has a hole already, but I just can’t get rid of it. I love the colors–the bright red with the mint and turquoise. Yum.

Measuring my life in coffee dates

Small take on the whole coffee spoon imagery, but that’s my life lately. A lot of coffe dates. Breakfast dates. Lunch dates. I’m really not complaining–it’s great to develop friendships with all these people I’ve been hanging out with, extending our relationships beyond what they originally started as–coworker, mother, acquaintance.  This particular spot was with my mom. We had a fun day planned full of crafts and shopping and errands, so we started off at our favorite breakfast joint.

The day didn’t go exactly as planned, but it was still nice to hang out with my mom. Also, it’s kind of funny but I’ve gotten into a weird niche with my outfits around her. The last four outfit photos she’s taken, I’ve worn two different dresses. Weird. This is the dress I was talking about last week, though. She found it when we were at Goodwill a while ago, and I just love it. It fits so nicely and so comfortably!

For the Halloween Party

Kels and Kim know how to throw a good party. They also know who to go for when they need decorations, or who their friend is when they need two hours of prep for cookies. I don’t complain, because I’m That Girl for parties. You can read my small little DIY for some of the decor over here. You can take that same idea and cut skulls out of glitter paper, which I also did. And because the combination of glitter and skulls is just too mcuh for me this year, I also made little glitter 3-D skulls

I also wore clothes, which, ya know, is the real point of this blog.

Sweater: inherited from my sister | Long Sleeve: thrifted | Skirt: H&M | Tights: ?? | Shoes: Clarks | Mask: DIY

Okay so I didn’t actually wear the crow mask the whole time. I really just wore it for the photos, since it isn’t even my costume. I made my friend’s crow costume, though, and while she already had the wings I still had to deliver the mask. So um yeah I’m sneaking it into my outfit post!

I don’t have any photos of my beautifully carved pumpkin because I’ve been migraine-y-sick this whole weekend and didn’t feel in the pumpkin carving mood. I do have an adorable one of David, though! And since it is living on my balcony, that doesn’t really feel like cheating.

We decided it looks like Voldemort, if he grew out of someone’s thumb

Deca Legged Fashion Blogger At Large

Okay, so I wrote an entire introduction paragraph. It was off topic and mostly consisted of me rambling about my mom’s dogs, who I was dog sitting in these photos. Somehow wordpress ate that paragraph, though, and I’m not retyping it. Out of spite. Look, clothes!

I don’t know if you guys are keeping track, but I am–I wear a ton of red when fall hits. Not entirely sure why, but candy apple red is just my absolute favorite thing ever lately. Which makes me entirely unfashionable, since word on the street is oxblood red is the new fancy color in town. Excuse me while I gag over that name…

If you blur these photos and make them small, it doesn’t look like I’m standing next to a wall–it just looks like an epic cloud skyline. Also, it doesn’t happen very often, but every single item of clothing I’m wearing excluding the shoes (but including the tights) was either purchased used or a gift. I wore this outfit to dinner with the paternal component of my family on Friday, but it was too dark by the time I saw David so no photos. Boo. Sunday, though, we spent the entire day in sweatpants being super lazy. We had to run errands, though, and walk to the dogs, so I put my Friday outfit back on to get some outfit photos. Which is the first time I’ve put on an old outfit just for the sake of photos. Guys, I’m starting to take this whole thing too seriously. Clearly.

David has this silly habit of trying to catch photos of me when I’m not looking. I don’t really put those on the blog, but it’s the dorkiest game ever where I try to not let him see me watch him, and then he looks away and takes the photo and I change my expression at the very last second. It’s worth it to see his confusion when he reviews the photo in the screen.

The dogs’ expressions back me up on this one–there was a really weird noise to our left

There are trees outside my window

Seriously guys sometimes it takes me a while to come up with a post title. Other times this time it takes me forever, until I give up and write the first only sentence that popped in my brain when I looked at my outfit photos. Suddenly the mystery of my blog writing is gone. Whoops.

There is totally a huge tree outside my window, though. Well. Outside my glass doors that lead to the balcony. I’ve been having a lame-ass time with random stuff so I told David that he should text me periodically throughout the day about the tree we have, and how awesome is our tree?

The whole view is pretty gorgeous, and definitely a large part of what keeps me sane lately! As for my jerryrigged tripod? Iffy at best. I have some normal photos, but here’s my favorite.

Sweater Tank Pants & Boots: Target | Shirt: Thrifted

It took me until typing that out to realize my entire outfit, sans shirt, is from Target. I usually make a point of avoiding doing that. Am I alone? I always feel weird when I wear all one brand. Even weirder when I walk into a store wearing mostly their brand. Gives me hives. Which is silly, I know, but haven’t we established that most of what keeps my inner wheels turning is silly? No? Let’s stare at the trees again then

What to Wear on Laundry Day

This is the post where I flash you guys. I’m sorry to say it, but it’s true. I haven’t done this to you in a long time, but yeah. I tried to not flash you guys, but if you wanted to see what to wear on laundry, if you’re me, then it would look like this

It’s that time of year where David doesn’t get home until after sunset, and I still haven’t figured out a good tripod backup in this apartment. One day (hopefully soon) I’ll break down and invest in a tripod,  but until then I usually jerryrig chairs and stepstools. I plan on utilizing all these unopened boxes soon. But on this particular day, I actually left my camera in his car. That sentence can only be followed with–even though I left both my memory cards at home. *Le sigh!

Jacket: REI | Shirt: H&M (originally a dress) | Sweater: Express | Skirt: Homemade | Tights: Buffalo Exchange

The thing about laundry day is, and I’ll try to do this without humblebragging because ew much, I have a lot of clothes. Enough so that laundry day doesn’t rely on any of my clothes running out, but rather knowing I have enough in the laundry pile to be a complete load of laundry. This means I don’t get to my B-List of clothing very often, but I thought about the things I don’t wear very often and this is what I came up with!

The things I skip over in my closet have a fairly repetitive ring to them–active wear, homemade clothing, and cheap tights. Also on the list but not in the photo because it wasn’t visible is awkward fits. I know I should get ride of my Express sweater, but I can’t. I love it. I want so badly to love it even though it’s the most awkward fitting thing I’ve ever owned. The skirt and shirt I skip because I made (/modified) them, and for some reason I just don’t. The skirt tends to wrinkle really easily, and in my mind it looks unfinished. I never got around to sewing a liner on the inside. The tights I bought at Buffalo Exchange, and it’s a lesson I need to never repeat. Their tights are always the lowest quality costume-y tights. It’s sad.

What’s really sad, though, isn’t my overabundance of clothes–it’s that this post coincided perfectly with me actually needing to do laundry. The tragedy? That hamper is still just as full as it was the day before I decided to do laundry. Sometimes I’m a pretty awful SAH
