Talking about clothing and outfits feels a little empty after the events of the weekend. I’ve written more about my views on everything on my other blog, so if you need to stay in that moment and reflect some more, I respect that. I also know that there are a lot of good people out there who eventually need a break from the heavy, and that’s what this post is about.
I’ve ignored this dress for a long time, mostly because I couldn’t figure out a way to wear it without hating it. I knew it existed–I just hadn’t found it yet. The shape is tricky around my midsection which is less a problem about looking bad and more about feeling frumpy. Also? Orange, brown & cream? difficult colors to add to.
Sweater & Tights: Target | Dress: Sojourner | Shoes: Thrifted | Coat: H&M
I found this dress on massive sale at a little boutique up in Bellingham, but I know it was on Modcloth for a while. I tried to find it for you, but with no luck. You’re free to try on your own, though. Those birds are wearing neck ties, fancy hats and monocles, so I’m not sure what print could possibly be better.
This coat is meant for spring, but it’s meant for springs that are dryer than the ones we have so I usually wear it in winter–the closest thing we have to ad ry season. I have to layer it extra or I freeze, and today was definitely a day that required more layers I had. All in all, though, my outfit felt super successful. Remember kids–adding color is always the right option.
Well, at least for my dress. I put together a cute little holiday outfit that I’ve been fantasizing about. I think it’s super cute for the holidays, and each piece would be great to remix into my own wardrobe for lots of further use!
1 I can’t think of anything better to wear than a chartreuse dress like Frozen Margaritas Dress | Modcloth
2 It took all my self control not to buy this sweater, which is on sale right now! Sequin Front Caridan | The Limited
3 I’m pretty sure I’ve had dreams about the Opaque Fairisle Tights | ASOS
4 I love these shoes and they’re the perfect touch Børn ‘Verna’ Flat | Nordstroms
5 A cute flower for my hair, such as this Magnolia Flower Clip | Enchantedly Yous, Etsy

I couldn’t decide which top to wear while David and I were running errands. He knew I wanted to sneak in an outfit photo so he told me to bring both.
We’ll do photos for both outfits, babe.
I knew there was a reason I love that man. Besides the fact that he pretty much rocks me socks off on a daily basis. Anyway.
Shirt: F21 | Dress: Thrifted | TIghts: Target | Shoes: Fred Meyer
The plaid top ended up winning for the day, but only because it was more comfortable and my errands consisted largely of sitting in waiting rooms. Comfort was key. Also, this is exactly what I wore–that is, no coat. I should probably cut that out. It’s getting cold out.
Sweater: Kohls | Dress: Thrifted | Tights: Target | Shoes: Fred Meyer
This felt too formal, but I still loved it. I think it’s a super cute holiday outfit and it’ll definitely make another appearance, once the timing is right. Oh and lastly–so don’t care that I’m like ten million months behind on this tred. The blue & red look so smashing together I could just melt. Melt.
That was totally my favorite Doctor Seuss book growing up. I felt so bad for the poor little fella! He’d be so happy in a zoo. Anyway, this was totally all I could think of when I threw this outfit together.
This was my DMV + Car Insurance + Medical Appointment for David outfit. Comfortable yet professional, and for those who think I’m flashing some inappropriate levels of cleavage rest assured–there’s a tank under that top.
Sweater Skirt & Shoes: Thrifted | Shirt: Mona B | Tights: gift Express
There’s not a whole lot to say except this outfit was a million times more comfortable than I expected and a lot more flattering than that shirt’s initial shape would lend you to believe. My personal policy, by the way, for the DMV is to go into as ridiculously happy as is fucking possible. Charm everyone who looks at you for longer than five seconds. Kill them with kindness. Oh and go in armed with a 16 oz iced green tea half sweetened from Starbucks.

Sweater Pants & Shoes: Kohls | Shirt: H&M | Tank & Socks: Target
Not in a no-pattern environment, that is. Somehow my manager gave an okay to this sweater, although she makes weird comments about how trippy it is every time I wear it. As such, I make sure to keep it to a minimum. Don’t want no privileges revoked, yo’
Also, because I’m still a sneaky rebel, I love wearing these socks. Tiny tiny pop of red, but it’s okay. Socks don’t count either. God are you guys just as super bored of my work outfit posts as I am? I might just play dress up tomorrow before my shift or something. It’s getting a little ridiculous.
I got this book the other day and have read almost all of it. Now I’m itching to hit up a craft store and a thrift store and start making these as Christmas gifts.
A view of the craft mess that covers my art room carpet right now. It’s all part of the festivities, folks.
This was my post-Thanksgiving outfit and I know I’ve got an epic faux food baby going on in it.
Sweater: Kohls | Top: Thrifted | Tank & Jeans: Target | Bag: H&M | Boots: Mi Shoes
It’s a faux food baby because it’s really just how I’m standing. And I’m only standing that way to keep my mouth tucked in my scarf. Also, it’s not actually that cold out in these photos. I have my scarf over my face because I’ve got a cold sore and I don’t care how much body acceptance I’m supposed to have–that is just not a photo I want on the internet. So you guys get these somewhat goofy photos instead.
On a side note, though, I love how crazy wild and mess my hair is in these photos. It’s growing out kind of crazy and I’m trying to trim it the best I can. Right now it’s in a weird faux-Kate Gosselin the early years phase. Which I did. It’s really similar to how I had it in high school.
Also, and entirely separate side note, these are the last photos with my favorite, beloved hipster glasses. They were tragically destroyed in a really frustrating accident that makes me grumpy just thinking about it. We’re talking full-on annihilation. >.< So long, hipster frames, and hello new pair that I’ve had as back up
but hated for along time and now like a lot.

Guys, here’s the thing. I’m so bored with my work wardrobe. So bored.
This was my attempt at indoor lighting. My mom donated a Sun Light to the Keep Marci From Going Insane project and it’s great on those gray days that plague this area of the country. Also, it’s really good for natural lit photos. Except I’m still working on that effort. I’ll figure something out.
Also, this is a corner of my art studio. I’m still not done decorating things, but I’ll probably get a tour ready for it when the time is right. It’s kind of exciting having a second bedroom that I can do what I want with. We have a spare bed in there as well, which means we let friends crash when they come over. It’s exciting.
Dress: Sojourner | Sweater: Kohls | Tights: Target | Boots: Clarks
And for those curious, the really awesome rug under my feet is actually a King+ size bedspread I found at Goodwill for like $5. It’s amazingly perfect, although sometimes I stare at it and am in awe at the size of the bed it must have covered. It’s enormous. Definitely a bed for epic orgies.
